Juve, Chiesa stays if Allegri leaves: the point on the renewal

Now Juve is in a hurry. You want to secure the investment made in Chiesa and need certainties right away. Qualification for the next Champions League will trigger the green light, even if the player – who has a good relationship with the management, decidedly less so with Allegri – would also like to know the new technical project, before making any statements about his future. The appointment between the parties is for the end of the season, in fact we are in the last month which will have to lead to the white smoke for the extension or the decision to separate one year before the natural expiration of the contract. The countdown has already begun.

INVESTMENT

Juve cannot afford to keep Chiesa with his contract expiring in 2025, having invested a total of 60 million in him between loan (10), buyout (40) and bonus (10). The attacker would consider the sale only due to a monstrous offer from the Premier League, but he has never reached a breaking point with the club: the problem – if anything – is related to the technical part, since on the current Juventus board there is no he has a position that allows him to best express his qualities as an external attacker. Allegri tried to give him a second striker role last summer, but Chiesa was unable to adapt and in the long term he didn’t perform as the coach would have hoped.

OPPORTUNITY

The relationship between Chiesa and Allegri is central in the evaluations of the player, who also makes a certain request for a salary (he would like to improve it) but does not make it purely an economic question: Juve would like to keep him for modest sums (or with the same salary), remaining consistent with the cost reduction project that it has been adopting for a couple of years to rebalance the budget accounts. The striker focuses above all on the project: he was born in 1997 and believes participation in the next Champions League is fundamental, just as at Juve he would also have the opportunity to play as a protagonist in the 2025 Club World Cup. All this leads to listening and availability to the dialogue on the negotiating table.

RENEWAL

The easiest, and probably most functional agreement to ease the pressure on the renewal discussion, could lead to a short extension: an extra year of the contract to resume discussions between the parties in more mature times, both for the club and for player. In fact, the latter could express himself better with another coach (the separation between Allegri and Juve at the end of the season is probable, not yet certain) and the club would keep the balance intact until more objective evaluations, considering that Chiesa’s journey in black and white he was also affected too much by the injury. Meanwhile, the countdown has already started: less than a month and the club will decide whether to keep the player or let him go.
