Tour of the Alps as protagonist for Davide Piganzoli

Very positive feelings for Davide Piganzoli, the Valtellina cyclist competing for Polti-Kometa, at the Tour of the Alps, a stage race that crosses the regions of the Alps and therefore very suitable for climbers.

Piganzoli, in fact, finished in tenth place in the general classification, 2’58” behind the winner, the Spaniard Juan Pedro Lopez, but, above all, he demonstrated, in the two most difficult stages, yesterday’s and today’s, that he could hold the pace of the best. Today, in fact, in the Levico-Levico, the cyclist from Valtellina reached the finish line in the leading group, then failing to assert himself in the final sprint which rewarded the Frenchman Aurélien Paret-Peintre.

Yesterday, however, in the section from Laives to Borgo Valsugana, Piganzoli entered the 11-man breakaway which enlivened the stage, before Simon Carr’s solo which won the stage.

For the cyclist from Morbegna, therefore, confirmation of excellent levels in an important stage race after winning a stage and the general classification at the Tour of Antalya.
