How are you enjoying the wait for Milan-Inter on Monday?
“Winning the scudetto on Monday would please me, but if it were to happen in a few weeks it wouldn’t change anything for me. I don’t enjoy the humiliation at AC Milan, I say that clearly. If we win on Monday, at the end of a proud match, I will be absolutely happy and I will celebrate all at night. If I go to the stadium? No, I have the news at 8.35pm and 8.45pm, the one that will take me home to sit in front of the television.”
The protagonist of this season?
“Absolutely Barella. Genius, recklessness, but also method and other things. Calhanoglu was extraordinary up until Madrid, then he went with alternating current. Lautaro marvelous, up to the point of fasting. When the team started to struggle there were players who made up for it with class and quality, including Barella. The surprise instead is Thuram, as well as Sommer who gave further calm to the defense. We lost Lukaku, Dzeko, Handanovic, Onana, Brozovic, so everything went very well for us. If we had taken Scamacca, we would have already been champions for a couple of weeks.”
Where do you place Inzaghi among the coaches in Inter’s history?
“What has made Inter play better for as long as I can remember. The great ‘assertives’ were Herrera and Mourinho, who we have now seen imitating himself and how much damage he can do. Inzaghi has demonstrated his ability and culture of football to be innovative. If I were Bastoni, I would go to Inzaghi’s house every morning to leave him flowers before reaching Appiano. Inter are a team that is nice to see. A few days ago I met Sacchi, who we had a complex towards of inferiority. Inzaghi created an Inter team to which we similarly have to take our hats off. We always saw a team in which everyone had a role and could take the game to a higher level.”
