Agrate will host the Special Olympics Regional Volleyball Games

Agrate. Sport has always been an important vehicle for inclusion and sharing fundamental values. In exactly one month, on May 18th and 19th, the champions of Special Olympics will invade the gyms of Agrate because the Brianza municipality will host the Regional volleyball games.

Agrate, led on the bench by Andrea Colombo, we remember him, he is the reigning national champion and is preparing to play the regional competition as the absolute protagonist as well as the host team.

“Since 2018 we have had our own team special teams who participates in all the games of the Special Olympics. This year we had the opportunity to organize the regional volleyball games here which are scheduled for May 18th and 19th which for Agrate means a wonderful experience” he explained Tiziano Caldararo, president of Volleyball Agrate.

The program of the Regional Games

There will be eight teams of Lombardy who will play initial matches to see their level. After which the teams will be divided into two groups. The qualifiers will take place on Saturday and Sunday morning, with the finals on the pitch on Sunday evening.

“For Agrate it was a great opportunity – he added Claudio Galli, Councilor for Education. – It’s the first time for us and it actually happened a bit by chance. Other locations were not available and we jumped at the chance. We have made the gyms of the primary and middle schools available and the building in Via Dante which, with 400 seats, can host ceremonies and awards ceremonies.”
