ATP Rome, qualifying entry list announced. Only one Italian at the start waiting for the wild cards

After the main draw entry list, the qualifying list for the men’s singles tournament has also been released Italian Internationals 2024, the fifth Masters 1000 of the season and the last major clay event ahead of Roland Garros. To have a complete picture of the Italian participants, we will still have to wait for the various wild cards yet to be assigned, but at the moment only one blue player would be registered in the cadet draw.

It’s about Stefano Napolitano, currently involved in the Oeiras Challenger after the recent triumph at the Madrid Challenger which projected him to 125th place in the world ranking. However, the 29-year-old from Piedmont has a great chance of receiving an invitation to the main draw, so it is unlikely that we will actually see him in action in the Rome qualifiers.

It therefore remains to be seen who will be awarded the five wild cards available to the organizers for the cadet draw, without prejudice to the fact that one should go to the winner of the pre-qualifiers. The other four slots will also depend on the various flat rates and how the entry list situation will evolve, with Matteo Berrettini who for example is virtually seventh alternate in the main draw and could therefore enter without “help”.

We remember all the Italians registered in the main draw of the Masters 1000 in Rome: Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Sonego, Flavio Cobolli, Luciano Darderi and Luca Nardi. Furthermore, federal president Angelo Binaghi has already announced that, if they need it, Fabio Fognini and Berrettini will receive the wild card (there would therefore be 3 left).
