Arsenal out, Salzburg thanks

The elimination of the Gunners from the Champions League paves the way for the Austrians to qualify for the intercontinental tournament

Arsenal are also out of the Club World Cup from the FIFA scheduled for summer 2025 in the USA. After the exclusion of Barcelona, knocked out by PSG and out of the Champions League, the same fate also befell the Gunners who suffered a double defeat in Munich. The exit from the Champions League, in fact, precludes the English from qualifying, effectively paving the way for Salzburg to become the last European club to qualify for the World Cup.

The list of European teams that will participate is therefore complete, with the last available place being won by the Austrians. Racing with the Gunners until the final whistle of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Salzburg took advantage of the elimination of the English to fly to the World Cup. He does it for regulatory reasons, because only the victory of the Champions League could have led another English team to compete for the championship in 2025
