Fantasy football, there’s Atalanta-Inter: curiosities and precedents

Inter have won all of their last six Serie A matches against Atalanta and are generally unbeaten in all of their most recent 13 (W8, D5); the last time they recorded a longer streak of consecutive victories against this opponent in the league was 1967 (eight on that occasion).

Atalanta have only kept a clean sheet twice in their last 27 home games against Inter in Serie A, two 0-0 draws on 14 April 2018 and 16 January 2022; in addition, he has not found the net in four of the eight most recent home matches against the Nerazzurri in the tournament.

Inter have scored at least two goals in each of their last six Serie A matches against Atalanta and have only once managed to score more than one goal in seven consecutive matches against a Lombard opponent in the tournament, just at the beginning of December against Como.

Atalanta have won their last two Serie A home games, both with Raffaele Palladino on the bench; the only coach who found success in each of the first three home games in charge of the Bergamo team was Carlo Alberto Quario in October 1963.

Inter have won the last match of the calendar year in six of the previous seven years in Serie A (1N); on the other hand, Atalanta has not found success in four of the last five matches of this type, even if the only defeat they have recorded in this period dates back to 2022, against Inter (3N).

Inter (11W, 4L) is one of only two teams that have not yet drawn a match in this Serie A, together with Roma (10W, 6D). The Nerazzurri’s last draw in the league dates back to May 18th at the Meazza (2-2 against Lazio), since then 12 wins and four defeats in 16 matches in the tournament.

Considering all competitions, after the draw against Bologna in the semi-final of the Italian Super Cup (1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes of regulation) Inter could have two matches in a row for the first time since last April (against Milan in the Italian Cup and against Parma in Serie A in that case) – that was the only occasion in which the Nerazzurri recorded two consecutive all-comps X marks in this calendar year.

Atalanta-Inter will be the match between the two teams that have attempted the highest number of maneuvered attacks (open-play sequences of 10+ passes ending with a shot or a touch in the opponent’s area) in this Serie A: 63 for Biscione, 55 for Dea.

Since the start of the 12th matchday of the 2025/26 Serie A – when Raffaele Palladino made his debut on the Dea bench – no player has scored more goals in the league than Gianluca Scam: four, equal to his opponent of the day Lautaro Martínez and Nikola Vlasic. The 1999 born player scored two goals in the two most recent matches against Inter in the tournament (20 February 2022 and 4 November 2023), after remaining empty in the first two.

Lautaro Martinez he was involved in nine goals in 12 games against Atalanta in Serie A (7G+2A) and only against Salernitana (10) and Cagliari (13) did he boast more active participations in the tournament in his career. The 1997-born player has scored in each of his last three league appearances and the last time he scored in multiple consecutive matches with at least one goal in a single calendar year in the top flight dates back to the period between November and December 2021 (five consecutive games on target in that case).
