A large fire engulfed part of the Le Vele shopping center in Desenzano del Garda, in the province of Brescia. The fire started just before 5 pm on Tuesday 23 May. The column of smoke is visible from miles away.
The facility was evacuated as a precaution, but apparently there were no injuries. Several teams of firefighters attended the scene.
Where the fire in Desenzano del Garda started
According to the first information, the fire would have developed on the roof of the shopping center, to be exact in the area where the works are underway between the offices of the Asst del Garda, theformer Obi and a sporting goods store.
The shopping centre, a few months ago, had undergone an in-depth restyling work.
Dozens of firefighters at work
In the commercial center of Lower Garda, not far from the motorway, they are working tirelessly 74 firefighters with 8 crews, 6 tank trucks, two ladder trucks, an air tank and a foam tank.

The fire brigade teams arrived from Brescia, Castiglione delle Stiviere and Verona. In addition, volunteers from the Civil Protection and technicians from Arpa Veneto, the regional agency for the protection of the environment, also arrived on site.
