Around 5.30pm on Wednesday 31 December, the Carabinieri and 118 personnel intervened in Malafede to rescue a man seriously injured by the explosion of a rudimentary explosive device purchased illegally.

The report to 118 arrived after the firecracker went off. The man, Ion Botnarian, of spring originewas handling the firecracker in sight of midnight when it exploded in his hand. The “bang”, a rudimentary device according to initial information, purchased in clandestine shops (the victim’s son was found in possession of a battery of fireworks), it suddenly exploded, hitting the man in the chest and hands, causing ahemorrhage. The man, who was alone at the time of the explosion, died in the street.
