MotoGP Sprint Race Assen: Vince Bagnaia, Cade Marquez

Triumphant sprint for Pecco Bagnaia, who wins in Assen by dominating the short race on Saturday from the first corner to the finish line. The Ducati world champion, after dominating all the sessions of the weekend so far, from FP1 to qualifying, takes no prisoners even in the Sprint: he gets off to a great start and controls the entire race without ever being worried. On the podium are Jorge Martin, who remains the leader of the World Championship but with only 15 points over Bagnaia, and Maverick Vinales, third with Aprilia.

Good placings for Enea Bastianini, 4th after gradually climbing and making a nice overtaking move at the chicane on Brad Binder (6th), and Fabio Di Giannantonio, a good 5th in a comeback after starting badly from the second row and losing many positions at the start. Bad Marc Marquez who had another fall after the one in Q2: the Spaniard lost control of his Ducati Gresini at the start of the 2nd lap and ended up in the gravel at turn 2.

in points

Fabio Quartararo also scored points, seventh with Yamaha ahead of Alex Marquez, who struggled for a long time in the top-5 and received a 3″ penalty for not having served a Long Lap Penalty for ‘track limits’, and Franco Morbidelli. Out of the points Pedro Acosta, 10th and never a protagonist, like Marco Bezzecchi, 11th. Bad flight on the last lap for Aleix Espargaro, who flies off badly at turn 15, suffering a blow to his wrist.

I’m in great shape

Bagnaia’s words after the race say it all about his form: “Great job, I tried to be as consistent as possible to understand if the rear tyre was right for the race, but it’s a wonderful feeling: it’s a great result for us, I can’t wait to start the GP”. Pecco is in great shape: with his fourth win in a row between Sprint and GP and with total control of his Ducati, he is ready for the final assault on Martin’s lead. The Spaniard tried, especially in qualifying, but had to bow to Bagnaia; he still has a 15-point advantage over him, but now he can feel his breathing down his neck.
