Haaretz: Gallant did not know about the IDF decision on pause
Sources close to Yoav Gallant told the Haaretz newspaper that the Israeli Defense Minister was not aware of the army’s decision to suspend fighting in the area near the Gaza humanitarian corridor, announced this morning. According to sources, the government did not approve the decision.
What happened
According to the Israeli news site Ynet, there should specifically be a ‘pause’ in the form of aid deliveries in the area indicated by the IDF announcement, from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Salah al-Din Road and then northwards towards the Khan Younis area. The same portal had previously reported that the Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, would not have been informed in advance of the plans nor would he have approved the decision communicated by the IDF of the “tactical pause”.
For Netanyahu, the pause is “unacceptable”, ahead of Rafah
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office said that “when the prime minister heard the news on Sunday morning of a humanitarian pause in fighting for 11 hours a day, he told his military secretary that this was unacceptable.” Haaretz reports this, adding that after the clarification “the prime minister was informed that there is no change in IDF policy and that the fighting in Rafah will continue as planned”.
Media: Israel Defense Minister did not approve tactical pause
The Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, would have known nothing about the Israeli military’s plans for the “tactical pause” announced for an area in the southern Gaza Strip with the declared aim of allowing more aid to enter.
This was reported by the Israeli news site Ynet according to which Gallant would not have been informed in advance of the plans nor would he have approved the decision communicated by the IDF of the daily “tactical break” from 8am to 7pm along the route from the Kerem Shalom crossing to the Salah al-Din Road and then north towards the Khan Younis area.
Iran’s attack
“It is necessary for Islamic countries to use all available tools to stop the Zionist genocide in Gaza as soon as possible and to help the oppressed people in the enclave.” This was stated by the interim Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Bagheri, in a telephone conversation last night with his colleague from the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reports the Mehr news agency. The Emirati Foreign Minister, for his part, underlined the need to send humanitarian aid and to take effective measures to stop the attacks. Israeli attacks in Gaza, and said his country does its best to achieve this goal.
