The photo portraying Bruno Frattasi, general director of the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN), and Stefano Pontecorvo, president of Leonardo, on the stage of the programmatic conference of Fratelli d’Italia in Pescara is likely to become a new political controversy. Both smile at the photographers while holding the blue shirts with the event’s slogan: “Italy changes Europe”. Together with them also the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, the deputy Giulio Tremonti, the senator Isabella Rauti and the journalist Davide Desario, director of Adnkronoswith whom they participated in the panel “Common foreign policy and defense of European freedom”. The political expediency of the gesture of being photographed with the shirt is criticized, even if the two are not the only managers of investee companies or authorities among those invited to speak at the event. Among the speakers there are the CEOs of Enel Flavio Cattaneo, Claudio Descalzi of Eni, Pierroberto Folgiero of Fincantieri, Giuseppe Notarnicola of STMicroelectronics also connected remotely, the CEO of Leonardo Roberto Cingolani and Emma Marcegaglia, president of B7.
The criticisms
There are those who comment on the photo – taken on the first day of the conference, April 26 – criticizing the closeness of Frattasi and Pontecorvo to the party of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for the impartial position that the dossiers and projects on the table of Frattasi’s offices and Pontecorvo imply.
The political controversy
Thus the political controversy mounts. Enrico Borghi, group leader of Italia Viva in the Senate, defines “the positions taken by Bruno Frattasi and Stefano Pontecorvo in favor of Fdi” as “yet another bad sign of an electoral campaign in which respect for the most elementary institutional grammar seems lost” . And he announces a question to the Senate. Deputy Angelo Bonelli (Avs) speaks “of the demonstration of how Giorgia Meloni is now transforming the State into a branch of the Brothers of Italy: they are now two sides of the same coin and this is a serious problem from a democratic point of view which indicates how the occupation by the Premier of parts of the state is now widespread”. He also announces “a question of mine to the Prime Minister on these episodes in Pescara”. Critical voices also from the Democrats: “It is already inappropriate that two people who hold two delicate roles such as that of Director of the Cybersecurity Agency and President of Leonardo will participate in the convention that launches the Fratelli d’Italia campaign for the European elections. The fact that they then let themselves be photographed wearing the t-shirt bearing the electoral campaign slogan means they have no sense of decency. Bruno Frattasi and Stefano Pontecorvo, a prefect and a diplomat: two servants of the State from whom one would expect a very different style”, says Senator Alessandro Alfieri, leader of the Democratic Party in the Foreign and Defense Committee at Palazzo Madama.
