Mafia association, extortion, robbery, fraudulent transfer of values, scams involving temporary employment agencies and illicit waste trafficking. It is an ‘Ndrangheta that ‘moves’ by sectors of competence that reconstructed by the judge for preliminary investigations of Milan, Sonia Mancini, in the investigation which led to 14 arrests, including that of Salvatore Giacobbe considered, “without fear of denial , undisputed leader and promoter” of the organization dismantled by the Financial Police. The DDA also issued an emergency seizure for four companies owning premises within the “Isola Municipal Market”, in the nightlife area. To carry out the measure, the Gico of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Milan Financial Police is seizing, with the local police – The investigation was coordinated by the prosecutor Silvia Bonardi.

The gang that reinvents itself – The picture that emerges, according to the investigators, is of a man who “the very day after his release from prison in October 2019” expands his “criminal” activity, makes a “qualitative leap” compared to previous illicit trafficking and who, counting on his “already acquired criminal fameon the availability of men who are still very loyal, on the evident willingness to invest capital”, enters more profitable sectors such as waste trafficking and fictitious interposition in commercial activities, which allow him “to move on a less limited and narrow territory compared to the one in which he was previously restricted based on the regime of division of the territory between bosses which was the basis of the local system”. The ‘Ndrangheta therefore ‘reinvents’ itself and is no longer linked to the so-called locals, “to the very narrow territorial distribution of illicit trafficking” but rather acts “based on functional skills“.

The conversation with Casalesi and Piromalli – The investigation photographs the Giacobbes – Salvatore and their sons Vincenzo and Angelino – “communicate with the Casalesi when working in the waste sector, with the Piromalli when he deals with the acquisition of commercial businesses, with the Mancuso when he has to resolve issues related to mere extortion”. If the structure of the ‘ndrangheta has distant historical roots, this investigation “has revealed its current, constant and suffocating presence in various economic sectors, which the Giacobbe group has permeated by taking advantage of companies instrumental to this, carrying out, moreover, a clearly expansionist plan because it is aimed at taking control of a series of particularly profitable economic activities operating in the fabric of Milanese catering and illicit waste trafficking”. Regarding this in particular, the phrase that one of the arrested men refers to Salvatore Giacobbe’s partner appears emblematic: “Don’t worry, the time we come here, we will make this place a land of fires”.

Even scams – According to the investigators, the suspects were “capable of promoting, planning and organizing various criminal actions in the Lombardy capital” by stipulating administration contracts fictitious in the absence of actual needs for the use of workforce for cheat numerous temporary employment agencies with the complicity of the workers who they granted salaries to men of organized crime. As in any investigation into organized crime, the gang could count on the collaboration of figurehead to circumvent the law regarding patrimonial prevention measures. The dumbbells were therefore given the ownership of various catering establishments located in Lombardy and Piedmont.
