Investigations continue into the case of the woman found dead yesterday in the courtyard of an apartment building on the northern outskirts of Milan, at the foot of a brick building with numerous apartments in via Paruta, not far from viale Padova. The body was abandoned in a driveway not far from a flowerbed. He was only wearing a pair of sweatpants, a sweatshirt open on the chest and a pair of tennis shoes. Only a jacket covers her. For the rest, no document or anything else can be used to identify her. The victim is still unnamed. He would be between 25 and 30 years old, with a light complexion and features that rule out his being of Asian origin.
The investigations
The body was found yesterday morning, around 8.30, by the caretaker. The alarm was immediately raised: ambulances, the police and the prosecutor on duty, Antonio Pansa, were on site. “If we are here there is something strange,” he told reporters. He opened a murder case and ordered an autopsy, not yet scheduled, to shed light on the marks, bruises and wounds on his neck and face, which suggest an attack. For now the time of death is placed after 10pm the day before but nothing more is known.
Video analysis
To try to reconstruct what happened, the Carabinieri investigators are working on the surveillance cameras in the area and on some private individuals, including one placed above an entrance gate to the courtyard: from what has been filtered, at the moment, they have returned very dark images, due to the darkness, which outline the silhouettes of two people, perhaps a man and a woman, who therefore still need to be “worked on”. Also complicating the case is the lack of responses from the various reception centers and communities for people in difficulty in and around Milan, to which the investigators immediately sent out the victim’s photo: no one came forward to say that she was a guest. Furthermore, from the testimonies collected, it appears that none of the neighbors had ever seen her and no one noticed her or a couple wandering around the area.

Possible sexual violence
While we are trying to identify who the girl is, among the various hypotheses to be ascertained there is also that of a possible sexual assault before the murder. This could be deduced from the fact that he was shirtless, although the final word on this point lies with the laboratory tests that will be carried out in the next few hours. The autopsy examination, however, is scheduled for the first few days of January while the databases used by the police are dug into and the results of the examination of the video footage and the traces found by the forensic team are awaited.
