Another of the most beautiful and famous titles in the history of cinema returns to theaters in a restored edition in 4K. Here is the new trailer created for the new release of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Even in the context of a decade marked by a very different level of cinema, the 1975 – as a documentary that arrived streaming just a few days ago teaches us Netflix, 1975: the year that turned the world upside down – was what many consider to be the best. And among the many films of great value released that year, it certainly occupies a leading place One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nestlegendary title directed by Milos Forman and played by Jack Nicholson which to date, just to give a simple and banal example, is one of only three films, with It happened one night by Frank Capra and The Silence of the Lambs by Jonathan Demme, who won the Oscar the so-called “Big Five”or the five first prizes of the categories considered most important: best film, best director, best actor, best actress and best screenplay (in this case “not original”, since Forman’s film was based on the novel of the same name by Ken Kesey).
E One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is yet another great, great film in the history of cinema that tarrives in our theaters in a restored 4K version: we will be able to see it again on January 12, 13 and 14 thanks to Lucky Red, fifty years after its first release.
For those who don’t know, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – produced by Michael Douglaswho took over the role from his father Kirk – tells the story of Randle Patrick McMurphy, a man who, convicted of having sex with a minor, pretends to be crazy to avoid forced labor and is committed to a psychiatric hospital. There he clashes with the tyrannical and authoritarian nurse Mildred Ratched, quickly becoming a symbol of rebellion and redemption for the other patients. Together with Nicholson the extraordinary one must be mentioned in the cast Louise Fletcher in the role of nurse, e Danny DeVito in his first major role, Christopher Lloydand Brad Dourif at his debut, Vincent Schiavelli e Will Sampson in those of the main patients of the hospital who become associates and friends of McMurphy.
