A series of increases in motorway tolls will take effect from 1 January 2026. This was communicated by a note from the MIT (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport). The note reads: «The contrary ruling of the Constitutional Court has frustrated the effort of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini and of the government itself to freeze tariffs until the new regulatory PEFs are defined (economic and financial plans of the individual concessionaires being approved, ed.). The Art (Transport Regulatory Authority) then determined that the tariff adjustment to inflation will be 1.5%. From 1 January 2026, therefore, for all motorway concessionaire companies for which the procedure for updating the relevant economic and financial plans is underway, on the managed toll network, a toll adjustment of 1.5% is expected, equal to the inflation index scheduled for the year 2026. This is what has been established, following the decisions of the Constitutional Court and of Art, on which the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport can no longer intervene”.
For the companies Concessioni del Tirreno (A10 and A12 section), Ivrea-Turin-Piacenza (A5 and A21 section) and Strada dei Parchi A24-A25 (Rome-L’Aquila motorway and branch to Pescara), during the regulatory period, no changes in tariffs are foreseen to be paid by users, in line with the respective agreements in force. A variation equal to 1.925% is recognized to the Salerno–Pompei–Naples concessionaire.
Finally, a tariff adjustment of 1.46% is recognized for the Autostrada del Brennero company, with an expired concession, for which the re-awarding of the same is underway.
