“Rejected three times on Amici and twice on X Factor, I brought the songs that thousands now sing”

The artist himself told it, interviewed by Anna Pettinellito the RDS microphones.

The passion for music was so strong that Niccolò, Ultimo’s real name, never thought of giving up, although the beginnings were not easy. Speaking to the well-known radio station, the Roman singer talks about his attempts to enter Amici, where he was never chosen, admitting that he presented himself in a way that might have seemed unconvincing:

I showed up for the Amici auditions two years in a row, if not three. But this is a beautiful message. I believe that, as I also told Maria De Filippi privately, a defeat should not be experienced as ‘They didn’t notice me’. Reviewing the videos that Maria sent me, I was very controversial. Even aesthetically I always presented myself with my eyes lowered. In a TV show you have to have TV timing and you have to be smiling and fresh. When I was a boy I was much more introverted.

The attempts at X Factor and Sanremo Giovani

However, it was not the only attempt made to open up the world of music. The 28-year-old, in fact, revealed in an interview with Corriere that he also showed up at the castings of X Factor and Sanremo Giovani, but on those occasions he did not have the desired result:

Twice on X Factor, twice on Sanremo Giovani, at the time of Carlo Conti, and they never took me. Seven refusals. It had to go like this. Yet I sang the songs that thousands of kids later liked: Sogni appesi, Giusy, Piccola stella.
