A crew of National Geographicwhile he was exploring Atka Bay, in Antarcticashe managed to capture on video an incredible moment never filmed before from now. Thanks to a drone, they managed to film the particular moment in which a colony of hundreds of emperor penguins dives off a cliff over 15 meters high.
The rare images of penguins diving into the ocean
When i baby emperor penguins they reach five months of life, lose their feathers and, together with the other chicks, they head towards the ocean waters, to take their first bath of their life. This is a known behavior and already observed in the past, but never caught on video (until now), as National Geographic itself explains: “This spectacular moment has already been observed by scientists in the past, but it is the first time it has been filmed for television”. The video, which you can see below from the official National Geographic channel, was made under the supervision of Bertie Gregorywinner of the National Geographic photography contest and also of the important BAFTA Awards, e will be part of “The secret of the penguins,” a docu-series about these fascinating birds that will debut on Earth Day 2025.
