Let’s go back to talking about the controversial Man Of Steel, the first DCEU film directed by Zack Snyder which marked the debut of Henry Cavill’s Superman. This time it was him who spoke up Kevin Costnerface of Jonathan Kent.
As many of you will know, Costner’s Pa Kent was the protagonist of one of the most criticized scenes of the film, namely the one in which Clark, to prevent the world from discovering his powers, He lets his father die in the middle of a tornado. A lot has been said about those sequences, so much so that Costner himself returned to talk about them during a promotional event linked to his film Horizon: An American Saga.
During the chat with journalists, the American actor first joked about having played one of the few characters without powers:
“How lucky to be in a superhero movie and be the only normal person […] I said to myself, ‘Really? I can not fly? And I can’t punch the wall? Maybe I should have read this better. Am I a farmer?’ […]“, says the actor, who then underlined the symbolic importance of the gesture made by his character: “there was no question about him raising his hand and telling his son, ‘Stay there‘”. But Costner wasn’t the only one who was surprised after being called to the set. We know that Henry Cavill himself was busy playing World Of Warcraft when Snyder called him to offer him the role of Superman:
“I saw his call, but the fact is you can’t save in World of Warcraftyou can’t pause. That’s all live!” declared the British interpreter.
