Borderlands too similar to Guardians of the Galaxy? Director Eli Roth responds to those who suggested a strong similarity between the two cinematographic realities.
Borderlands is one of the most anticipated films of 2024, but some have already readily compared it to Guardians of the Galaxythe Marvel heroes protagonists of the trilogy directed by James Gunn. A comparison born after the distribution of the first trailer and official posters relating to the film based on the video game of the same name and directed by Eli Roth. It was the latter who faced the comparison in question, saying that he followed a well-studied approach precisely because he was aware that there could be some similarity between the two teams, at least in writing.

If for some Borderlands will try to emulate the successful films dedicated to the Guardians of the Galaxy, Eli Roth suggests that this will not be the case and that, when the film debuts on the big screen, it will prove it to even the most sceptical. Taken from the homonym video game seriesBorderlands focuses on a cast very rich led by Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart And Jack Black. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic society and the main adventure is animated by a group of warriors. The first trailer shared prompted several viewers to make a simple comparison with Guardians of the Galaxy for aesthetics And tone adopted. But, according to Eli Roth, this will not be the case. Interviewed by Total Filmthe director in question addressed what has been said so far:
There will be similarities no matter what you do, just because of the nature of the topic. I was definitely aware that I didn’t want to propose a remake of Guardians. When the audience watches the film they will realize that it is different.
Guardians of the Galaxy began its success in 2014 with the first film and an all-star cast of Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista And Bradley Cooper. Borderlands is based on a series of video games, but the director specified that his desire is to make the public admit that they have enjoyed a good science fiction film:
I don’t want audiences to say, ‘That was a good adaptation,’ but to say, ‘That was a really fun sci-fi movie.’ Point.
