Ddirected by Peter Segal in 2018, I’ll start again with myself it airs tonight at 9.20pm on Canale 5. In the main role of Maya there is Jennifer Lopez, a career woman who has to deal with her past.
Can the famous “piece of paper” become the only pass for role advancement? Is the future decided only in youth? OR Can you reinvent yourself even after you’re over 40? Maya’s story tries to answer these (and other) questions.
I’ll start again with myselfthe plot of the movie
Maya Vargas (Lopez) is 40 years old, lives in Queens, works in a supermarket and has always worked hard. Unfortunately, dedication and skill are not enough when the boss decides to promote his colleague Arthur (Dan Bucatinsky) just because he has a master’s degree in business administration. Maya just has to accept the harsh reality and settle for what she is offered.
Luckily for her, she can count on friends who believe in her and encourage her to show off her nails (and her talent). “The only thing stopping you is you,” Trey (Milo Ventimiglia) tells her, and she doesn’t yet know that her life is about to change. Her best friend, Joan (Leah Remini), aided by her tech-savvy son, he creates a completely false CV for herbut full of qualifications and work experience that will put her in the control room.
The wheel, thanks to the “little” trick, begins to turn in the right direction. Maya gets an interview at Franklin & Clarke, a major cosmetics company. Only when she meets the owner, Anderson Clark (Treat Williams), does she understand that they have contacted her to deceive her from the mendacious CV that Joan has put together for her.

A story of empowerment feminine
Despite the scam set up by her friend, Maya realizes that she doesn’t want to give up this opportunity and, in fact, enthusiastically accepts. He begins working in the company as a consultant and meets Zoe (played by another pop diva, Vanessa Hudgens), the daughter of the owner, Anderson, as well as his right-hand man.
The boss notices Maya’s skill and organizes a challenge between two teams. They are led by her and Zoe. The objective is to plan the launch of a new product on the market. Obviously Zoe can count on the brightest minds in the company, including Ron Ebsen (Freddie Stroma), an arrogant and presumptuous man. Maya has to make do with the “scraps”. So he welcomes into the team Chase (Alan Aisenberg), a chemist shunned by everyone after failing an experiment, and Ariana (Charlyne Yi), a woman caged in her thousand phobias.
Challenge aside, Maya is brilliant and strong-willed, but has a painful past behind her. In addition to the countless sacrifices, including abandoning studies to work, at the age of 17 she had a daughter who she gave up for adoption to ensure a better future: her deepest wound, and not yet healed.
Maya and Zoe, women compared
Although they work against each other, There is no rivalry between Maya and Zoe. Indeed, they establish a very close and deep friendship. Over time, Maya discovers that Zoe is hers Daughter. Seeing the life she has had of her, she doesn’t regret the choice she made and she tries hard to stay in the company so she can be close to her.
He must deal, however, with the consequences of his “uncomfortable” presence at Franklin & Clarke. Ron begins to rummage into Maya’s private life, driven by the respect Anderson has for her. Feeling threatened, he tries to shed light on the shadows of this career woman with her edge.
Maya’s team develops a ginkgo seed cream, which gives them victory. So Anderson wants to not only hire her, but also give her the honor of presenting the cream to the press.

Once she got what she wanted and proved to herself that she could do it even without titles, Maya should feel happy and satisfied. Instead, she feels the need to confess the truth. She has always been a correct woman, despite the beatings she has received, and she does not want to betray her nature.
So she reveals to Franklin & Clarke that she created a fake CV just to get the chance she was always denied: be evaluated for your work and not for a qualification. I’ll start again with myself it remains a comedy, and as such it does not present particular elements of drama.
Indeed, Maya is forgiven by everyone except Zoe, who moves to London to start attending the art school he had abandoned again. Some time later, however, she returns home and, once in New York, reconnects with Maya and gives her a second chance.
The rest of the cast besides J.Lo
Jennifer Lopez – who managed to get the part by beating Julia Roberts (the producers’ first choice) – stars alongside Milo Ventimigliaknown for his role as Jack Pearson in the series This Is Usit’s at Vanessa Hudgensfamous for the trilogy of High School Musicals.
