Lionsgate has confirmed that it has made the deal with Suzanne Collins necessary to make a film based on Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reapingthe new prequel novel to the saga which will go on sale in March 2025.
The new prequel film is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 20, 2026.
Francis Lawrence seems to be considering the possibility of being involved again as director, while Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson will once again be on the production team.
At the center of the plot will be the fiftieth edition of the Hunger Games, also known as the Second Edition of Memory, which was won by Haymitch Abernathy, destined years later to become the mentor of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mallark.
In films starring Jennifer Lawrence, the character was entrusted to Woody Harrelson.
