Kinds of Kindness
Yorgos Lanthimosin cinemas from June 6th

Grotesque (and very cruel) satire on the needs and addictions of our time. Yorgos Lanthimos returns to the atmospheres of the first films (and in fact co-writes the faithful Efthimis Filippou of Alps And Dogtooth) and directs a disturbing and enlightening triptych. All the actors – excellent: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley and many others – play different roles in each episode. Award for best male performance at Cannes to Plemons.

El Paraíso
Enrico Maria Artalein cinemas from June 6th

A very strong and almost morbid relationship between a Colombian mother (Margarita Rosa de Francisco) and her son born and raised in Rome (Edoardo Pesce). On to the second work later The third half, Enrico Maria Artale signs a fresco “on the Tiber” suspended between family, drugs, dance, and perhaps impossible redemption. Two awards at Venezia 80 in the Orizzonti section: best actress and best screenplay.

Goodbye Berlinguer!

On the occasion of Enrico Berlinguer’s funeral, many of the most famous Italian directors made a documentary on the event for Unitelefilm, The farewell to Enrico Berlinguer. Forty years after that day, Michele Mellara and Alessandro Rossi take a large part of that precious document and make a new film, on the legacy left by one of the greatest leaders of the Italian left.

Officers Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett (Will Smith and Martin Lawrence) return with a new investigation into corruption within the Miami police force. They will discover that their former captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), now deceased, is accused of working with drug cartels. But all this will backfire on them… Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah direct, with Eric Dane and Vanessa Hudgens also starring.

During a summer at the seaside, Pedro, openly gay, and Maxi, straight and single, begin an affectionate friendship that amazes all their friends. The two play at being boyfriends and the others fall for it: even Maxi’s ex-girlfriend, who arrives “at the crime scene”. But, little by little, Pedro and Maxi fall into the same net they cast. Argentinian Marco Berger’s film is defined as “an unashamedly happy gay story”. And that’s enough to make us like it.

Prequel/spin-off of the apocalyptic horror saga created by John Krasinski, sees Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar winner for 12 Years a Slave, and Djimon Hounsou, who returns to play the role of the man on the island, present in the second chapter. Three other new entries are Alex Wolff and Joseph Quinn, while Michael Sarnoski, author of the cult, takes over behind the camera Pig with Nicolas Cage.

Donya (the excellent Anaita Wali Zada) is a young Afghan refugee living in Fremont, California. She leads an empty and lonely existence, torn between her job as a fortune cookie prophecy writer and her therapy sessions with the eccentric Dr. Anthony. And in the meantime she’s looking for love… Co-written by Carolina Cavalli of Amanda and winner of an Independent Spirit Award. Also in the cast is Jeremy Allen White.

Hit Man – Accidental Killer

This hilarious film arrives in theaters almost a year (shame!) after Venezia 80 action comedy starring new star Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Everyone But You), aka a shy philosophy professor who works part-time as a computer consultant for the police department. One day he finds himself impersonating a hitman, and he gets upset… A Richard Linklater in great form for one of the truly unmissable films this summer.

Richard LaGravenese, a director specializing in feelings, directs (Kiss, PS I Love You) as well as screenwriter of Love has two faces And The Horse Whisperer.
