Abigail, an adrenaline-filled and spectacular horror film, with curious Tarantino-style characters

A group of criminals kidnaps a twelve-year-old girl returning from the dance, picking her up in her luxurious villa with a quick and organized executive action and taking her to an old isolated house prepared for this purpose. Lambert, the organizer of the heist, does not want to tell them whose daughter the girl is: they will only have to look after her for 24 hours while waiting for the ransom negotiations to be finalized and the wealthy parent to pay out the 50 million dollars required. Everything seems under control. But Abigail is also much more dangerous than she seems.

The story, in its main narrative line, is very simple. An ensemble of Tarantino-style characters – complete with fake names adopted for the occasion – find themselves dealing with a monstrous creature in a hostile and isolated place and must try to survive.

The little dancing vampire is a curious and original characterization, to which the young Alisha Weir gives depth and incisiveness. The directors prove perfectly at ease in tackling the vampire universe in a modern key, but with a clear eye on the tradition of the past, subsuming some classic elements and rejecting others in a swirling vortex that favors action over reflection.
