Since the new film in the franchise comes out today, let’s take a look at the critics’ ratings for the entire saga together The Planet of the Apesplacing the films in order from worst to best.

Let’s start with the average rating from Rotten Tomatoes:

• last place for Year 2670 – Last act of 1973 with 36% (if you wonder why something is missing in the title, we will explain it to you by telling you about the wicked drama of the Italian titles in the Planet of the Apes franchise)
• just above The Other Side of the Planet of the Apes of 1970 with 37%
• leap forward over the years with Tim Burton’s remake: Planet of the Apes – Planet of the Apes of 2001 with 43%
• let’s go back for 1999: Conquest of Earth of 1972 with 52%
• first positive vote for Escape from the Planet of the Apes of 1971 with 76%
• then we find Dawn of the Planet of the Apes of 2011, the first of the prequel-reboot trilogy, with 82% of the votes
• third place for the historic and timeless first The Planet of the Apes of 1968 with 86%
• silver medal for Apes Revolution – Planet of the Apes of 2014, the first of the two directed by Matt Reeves, with 91%
• first place again for Matt Reeves with The War – Planet of the Apes of 2017 which reaches 94%

Let’s now move on to the Metacritic ratings:

• same last place for Year 2670 – Last act of 1973 with 40%
• The Other Side of the Planet of the Apes of 1970 with 46%
• third to last place for 1999: Conquest of Earth of 1972 with 49%
• Tim Burton’s remake: Planet of the Apes – Planet of the Apes of 2001 with 50%
• positive vote instead for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes of 2011 with 68%
• Escape from the Planet of the Apes of 1971 reaches 69%
• dead heat instead for The Planet of the Apes of 1968 and Apes Revolution – Planet of the Apes of 2014 at 79%
• first place again for The War – Planet of the Apes of 2017 with 82%
