Behind him we see, elegantly dressed, the character of Nathalie Emmanuel, the wealthy scion of Driver’s nemesis, a corrupt mayor played by the star of breaking Bad Giancarlo Esposito. Adam Driver is instead the protagonist in the role of a idealistic architect who plans to rebuild a ruined city. Coppola described Adam Driver’s character as having the “power to stop time”while Natalie Emmanuel’s character is torn between her love for the architect and her loyalty to her father.

What Megalopolis is about
Megalopolis revolves around the personal, political and romantic clashes that arise during a battle to build an American utopia, and touches on themes such as the prophecy of HG Wells, a murderous conspiracy from ancient Roman history, and the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers and the enormous influence of the media. “To this I added everything I had read or learned”says Francis Ford Coppola in a note.
The cast also includes Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, singer Grace VanderWaal and James Remar, as well as Coppola’s sister Talia Shire and her son Jason Schwartzman.
