The Dune Popcorn Bin: Part 2 has caused a lot of talk about itself on social media, but apparently that of Deadpool & Wolverine it will be even more outrageous.
Given the scurrilous, meta-cinematic nature of the Deadpool films, it’s no surprise that Marvel Studios is planning the ultimate meta gag for the film’s release starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman: a deliberately questionable popcorn bin to rival the one from Dune: Part 2, which conquered social media for its somewhat grotesque appearance. The confirmation came from none other than Kevin Feige, during CinemaCon 2024 (after the screening of the first look of Deadpool & Wolverine).
“Deadpool & Wolverine will have a bucket of popcorn that will be intentionally crude and obscene“wrote ComicBook’s Brandon Davis from CinemaCon 2024.”While some are unintentionally disgusting, this one will be intentionally disgusting“, added Germain Lussier of Gizmodo and io9 on X: both journalists reported the words of the announcement that Kevin Feige made during the event. Ryan Reynolds himself teased Deadpool 3’s popcorn bucket in early February, when the film’s first teaser trailer appeared online. Sharing the poster, the actor had said, “Wait until you see Deadpool’s popcorn bucket“.
