After the reveal of the Transformers one logo, here comes a special announcement from CinemaCon regarding the franchise.

Paramount has in fact revealed a new film in which the particular crossover that was already rumored some time ago will take place, that is, the one between Transformers and GI Joe. According to what Deadline reports “The idea is based on a storyline that the Hasbro brands have interpreted in the comics published by Marvel in the eighties. The end of The Awakening sees the Transformers hero, played by Anthony Ramos, approached in a secret bunker by gang member Michael Kelly.” Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer on the film.

About that, Steven Caple Jr., director of Transformers: The Awakening, had spoken of the presence of GI Joe technology in the film: “It was about finding a way to use the GI Joe technology because they are known for their technology. […] I proposed several versions to the studio and producers. I proposed a direction I wanted to go and ways to expand the universe in general. The Transformers films have scope and scale but we’ve spent a lot of time here on Earth; so, I just think there’s more to it.” Finally, the long-awaited crossover has been announced, and all that remains is to wait for further official news. If you haven’t read it yet, we invite you to take a look at our review of Transformers: Awakening.
