Wes Ball spoke to Screenrant about Kingdom of the Planet of the Apesthe new chapter of the saga in theaters from next May.

The director first responded to a question about what other films you need to see:

You don’t need to see the previous films to see this film, it is not the third season of a television series. It’s designed to be seen for what it is, there’s even a little prologue that explains a few things.

But I can say that at the moment [la saga] It’s on Hulu or Disney+, so catch up on the previous three films and the one from 1968. Check out those four films, you’ll be greatly rewarded for being a little familiar with those films.

On why the film is set 300 years after the last chapter and therefore does not follow any of the well-known characters, he then added:

I needed something different, we’ve seen that world before, and given the current state of the film industry, audiences are tired of seeing the same things. So we thought we’d give everything a fresh tone.
