Nighttime renovation works on the Perugia-Bettolle connection: significant improvements for road safety

Anas, the body responsible for the management of Italian roads, recently completed an important project on the Perugia-Bettolle motorway junction. The project involved the replacement of the central traffic island, known as “new jersey”, along a stretch of approximately 3 km between Olmo and Madonna Alta.

The old barrier, now obsolete, has been replaced with a newly designed structure, 1.2 meters high. This innovation represents a significant step forward for road safety, as the new barrier is designed to contain impacts more effectively, significantly limiting movement, even in the event of accidents involving heavy vehicles.

But Anas’ work doesn’t stop here. As the next phase of the intervention, the pavement will be rehabilitated through the creation of draining asphalt. This measure, together with the redevelopment of the hydraulic works already completed, will contribute to further improving road safety, especially in rainy conditions.

To minimize inconvenience to travellers, all works will be carried out exclusively at night, for a total of ten nights, starting from Monday 1st July, from 8.30pm to 6.30am the following day, excluding Saturday and Sunday nights .

During this period, it will be necessary to close the carriageway in the direction of Ponte San Giovanni from the Corciano junction to the Madonna Alta junction. This will also lead to the closure of the Olmo and Ferro di Cavallo junctions towards Ponte San Giovanni. Traffic will be appropriately diverted onto municipal roads, with clear indications provided on site.

Completion of this phase of the project is expected by Friday 12 July. Subsequently, it will be the turn of the roadway towards Bettolle. These interventions demonstrate Anas’ commitment to guaranteeing the safety and comfort of travelers on Italian roads.
