59 officers on probation at the Bologna Police Headquarters, of which 50 took service in the Offices/Divisions of the Police Headquarters, while 9 at the Police Stations of Imola and San Giovanni in Persiceto. They arrived on June 24th, after having won the competition and attended the 225th training course, taking the oath on June 19th. They will be engaged in the “practical application phase” until October 5th.
But that’s not all: this morning the police commissioner Antonio Sbordone met with 11 other agents from other police headquarters and departments, who from today are also assigned to the Bologna police headquarters.
To facilitate reaching the Smiraglia Barracks, a shuttle service has been set up from the Bologna Central Station, active from 8.00 to 20.00 on 24 June, the day of arrival and pick-up of colleagues.
The first days in the city
The officers met with the Vicar of the Police Commissioner, Roberto Della Rocca, and the managers of various Police Headquarters offices who provided the new policemen with information on professional ethics, the formal structure, the correct use of service vehicles and vehicles, to the topic of external relations and the use of social media, as well as further useful information about service activities.
The following 26 and 27 June were instead dedicated to shooting training and theoretical professional updating activities on the topic of safety in the workplace. Finally, the Agents met Dr. Carlo Barbieri, Technical Director Chief Psychologist of the State Police who, on duty at the Bologna Police Headquarters, represents a precious resource for the emotional and psychological well-being of the operators.
On the morning of Friday 28 June, the Police Commissioner Antonio Sbordone welcomed and welcomed the 59 Agents, underlining the values that inspire the State Police: “I expect great commitment, balance and seriousness from you in carrying out our duty of serve the community on a daily basis” – says the Police Commissioner to his colleagues – “it is important that you always maintain the enthusiasm and desire to do that you have now”.
The Tour de France, the day after
The new officers were employed in public order services connected to the Tour de France, supported by more experienced colleagues. They also managed traffic following the strike of the Local Police. The Bologna Police Chief Antonio Sbordone thanked all the personnel who, with great professionalism and spirit of sacrifice, made possible the optimal success of the event, of international importance, in a setting of absolute safety.
The police also deployed a helicopter.
“The activation of a control room near the arrival of the stage in Piazza VIII Agosto and of an inter-force Operations Room at the Police Headquarters proved to be very effective for the success of the event” they say from Piazza Galiei.
Activists on the trail
A group of activists from “Ultima Generazione”, at the height of via Mazzini, invaded the roadway; some chained themselves together with padlocks, while one of them threw a can of paint on the asphalt. According to the Police Headquarters, the Digos was already aware of it. Six of the demonstrators were stopped (5 girls and 1 boy, all Italian) and are being taken to the Police Headquarters.
“The arrested activists were in possession of pro-Palestine propaganda material, specifically two banners, one of which was large, paper documentation, a mobile phone, two bolts and some canisters containing red paint, all subject to constraint of the seizure”.
The Digos identified 7 other activists, belonging to the same group who had gathered in the stadium area.
In Piazza VIII Agosto a group of demonstrators from the “Young Palestinians” group displayed some Palestinian flags and were checked. Along the route in Via Emilia Levante, at the intersection with Via Lenin, a banner with a slogan against Israel was displayed.
