GIUGLIANO – Today, at 5 pm, the inauguration of the new building will take place Green Urban Park, former Villa Zagarianow renamed and dedicated to Joseph DiMatteoa young innocent victim of the mafia. The event will see the participation, among others, of the Prefect of Naples, Dr. Michael from Bariand of the Councilor for Legality of the Campania Region, Mario Morcone.
THE NEW GREEN URBAN PARK IN THE COASTAL STRIP
The urban park, built on an asset confiscated from the Camorra, extends over approximately 8,000 m2, and was designed to offer a space for aggregation and recreation for families and young people in the area. Of these, 6,000 m2 are intended for a green area equipped with games for children, while 700 m2 host a multipurpose pitch for various sporting activities. A 1,000 m2 car park serves the park and the future nursery.
Access to the park is from via Madonna del Pantano, through a pre-existing avenue of almost 100 meters which serves as the only entrance. The park is enriched with thematic areas for entertainment, areas dedicated to fitness and rest areas with benches, ideal for relaxation.

“When we took office in Giugliano’s government, Villa Zagaria was reduced to a degraded forest. I immediately got to work by taking on another commitment with the city: to return this structure to our community, to remove another piece of territory from crime and degradation and, above all, to give another strong, decisive signal of the victory of the State over the criminals. Nobody believed it, I remember many who complained about a phantom ‘advertising policy’ that would never be reflected in the facts. Yet, we did not give up in the face of controversy and even initial skepticism; we worked hard, followed all phases of the project and the bureaucratic process. Today, finally, we are inaugurating a green park: a lung of public greenery, an urban park with rides and the possibility of practicing sports. Here the Camorra lost.”
