MARTINSICURO. «Politics must dictate the conditions so that a system of land management can be set up that can guarantee at least a higher perception of safety, because the latter is a primary right of the citizen, at any latitude». The political association Città Attiva, which administered the town from 2012 to 2017 with the mayor, is making its voice heard again Paul Camaioniand which highlights the current administration’s lack of attention to the issue of security.
«This aspect», we read in a note from the association, «is central and it becomes essential to implement all those actions capable of promoting greater liveability in the area which in recent years has seemed to wane. Having to take the real data of the municipal territory at face value, a town of around 18,000 inhabitants finds itself having to deal with increasingly frequent episodes of urban violence and has been witnessing it on a daily basis for too long. To date, this last principle has no application because it is not guaranteed in the slightest by those responsible and delegated by the State in this role. The question arises spontaneously: has the mayor ever tried to implement effective actions to at least improve the perception of safety in our town? In 2018, the current mayor involves all the members of the city council, following a particularly violent episode, and undertakes to bring an act of direction to the council, aimed precisely at strengthening the police station (which has become an intercom for some years) . Well, we’ve been waiting ever since. On 25 January 2021, three Abruzzo deputies of the League presented a parliamentary question to the then Minister of the Interior, aimed at establishing a police station in Martinsicuro, and no member of the municipal administration of the time, which was also identical to the current one, offers the right side to this cause. Despite these notes, we believe it is right to leave the answer to every citizen. It’s nice to live for your country”, concludes Città Attiva, “but it’s even nicer to help your country live”.
