From 3pm Piazza Umberto was transformed into a riot of colors and joy for Bari Pride 2024. Over 2 thousand people gave life to the procession, which crossed the streets of the city centre, united to celebrate LGBTQIA+ rights and freedom.
Among the participants, students, workers, activists and people of all ages and backgrounds, united by the desire for a more inclusive and respectful world. The outgoing mayor Antonio Decaro was also therewhich reiterated its commitment to a “free Bari that knows how to love”. «20 years have passed since the first edition – declared Decaro – and we have come a long way. But today’s large participation is already a success and shows that there is still a lot to do.”
The parade he walked through the streets of the centre, passing through Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and the seafront, before returning to Piazza Umberto I. A moment of great celebration and unity, which turned the spotlight on the rights still denied to the LGBTQIA+ community.
Between symbols of the demonstration: the Bari Pride bannerheld high by Decaro and the representatives of the student unions, a wagon with Leoluca Armigero from Mixed dressed as Pope, the political manifesto, which this year focused on the concept of “home” as an emblem of safety and inclusion.
