PALERMO – Raid at the Civic hospital of Palermo where in the changing room of the Second Medicine departmenton the fourth floor of pavilion 4, personal effects of health workers were stolen and the locker containing them was damaged. In the same hospital, a female doctor was robbed of her wallet.
It is not yet clear whether the two incidents are connected to each other. “Everything was filmed by security cameras,” says Mario Di Salvo, of Fials Palermo, “but this happens after the crime has been committed and therefore serves no purpose as prevention and does not protect anyone from thefts, break-ins and robberies.
The staff is extremely concerned about their safety, as well as indignant at the fact that they are not protected in any way by real and not virtual surveillance. For years the Company has spent considerable sums for a surveillance plan that punctually does not guarantee anyone and this is demonstrated by the frequency and reiteration of the thefts”.
The union asks to “establish a company solidarity fund to at least compensate for damages to its employees, requesting an urgent meeting aimed at establishing a more widespread non-virtual surveillance service pavilion by pavilion”.
