Another addition for the Basket Club Bolzano is the Polish Aleksandra Makurat, a 190 centimeter athlete, born in 1997.

Aleksandra comes from a family of basketball players; her mother is a coach and her two sisters are Anna (2000) a new purchase of Geas and last year at Reyer Venezia and Agata (2004) who plays in the USA in NCAA.

Aleksandra began playing in Poland where at 17 she made her debut in the top league, then moved to the United States until 2021 where she played in the college league for Liberty University of Virginia and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. After graduating in psychology she returned to Europe in the German Bundesliga, arriving in 2022/23 in Selargius with an experience of only 2 days of championship due to the rupture of her Achilles tendon. Returning from injury last season she played again in the DBLL in Halle.

In addition to her club experience, Aleksandra has played for all Polish youth national teams up to the U20 level.

Hello Aleksandra and welcome to Bolzano!

“Hello everyone, thank you for the warm welcome. I can say that I am truly excited about this new chapter of mine that is about to begin.

I visited Bolzano last year and really liked it, which makes me even happier about this offer. I’ve heard so many good things about Basket Club Bolzano and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun this season.”

You played many years in the United States, two experiences in Germany and one albeit short in Italy. In what language do we do your introductory interview?

“Exactly, I have traveled quite a bit, speaking mainly Polish and English. I’m learning Italian but I’m still a beginner, I hope to improve during the season. So at the moment I would say English.” (smiles ed.).

You come from a family of basketball players, mother and sisters, tell us what type of player you are and if there is more complicity or competitiveness between you sisters.

“My family loves basketball and sharing this common passion with my sisters and parents definitely helps us connect and bond even more. My sister and I inspire each other and love training together to improve our skills. It’s very nice to share this passion.

I can define myself as a dynamic player, with good size and the ability to play all over the court. When I play, it is important for me to bring energy and have fun with my teammates.”

We learned that for everyone you are “Ola” where does this diminutive come from?

“Yes, it’s true. In many Slavic languages, including Polish, Ola is the nickname of Aleksandra. I like both names, but my family and friends all call me Ola, she is less official and helps on the pitch.

For my fans at Basket Club Bolzano I will definitely be Ola! Call me that!” (smiles)

Aneta Kotnis, the foreigner who preceded you by playing at BCB for two seasons before ending her professional career and leaving a little piece of her heart in Bolzano, is also of Polish nationality. Do you know each other or did you get in touch before or after your engagement?

“I know that Aneta has been a very significant part of the team and has given everything to the club, where she has felt very good. This was also one of the factors that led me to make the decision, although I still followed my intuition. I have never had the opportunity to meet her personally, but we will definitely be in touch soon and I can’t wait to learn more about her experience.”

Greetings to your new fans of the Basket Club Bolzano.

“I’m really excited for this new season and can’t wait to see you all at the games. I am confident in an unforgettable experience for all of us, enjoying every moment of every match.

I know this club has a lot of passion and love for the game, which is really exciting.

See you soon!”

Let’s hear from the words of the new BCB coach, Massimo Romano, what he expects from Aleksandra.

“I was looking for a dynamic 4 who could run in the open field and had the “double dimension”. Aleksandra embodies these characteristics.

Defensively he works hard, and can allow you more tactical choices, excellent rebounder

Furthermore, she already knows the A2 even if she was unlucky in her first Italian experience.”

A new piece of value.
