Yesterday afternoon, in the red room of the Sicily regional committee of the LND, the 2nd edition of the Sicilian football festival was held, an event characterized by fun, laughter and light-heartedness. The evening was hosted by journalists Nadia La Malfa and Marco Gullà, supported by the brilliant quips and jokes of the Palermo comedian Sasà Salvaggio, who delighted the audience with the best of his comic repertoire, made up of sketches, humor and lots of irony. Luca Savasta of Modica Calcio received the award for “best footballer”.

The event, conceived and organized by the LND Regional Committee of Sicily chaired by Sandro Morgana, saw the winning teams of the various championships as protagonists, from Excellence to Second Category, up to regional youth championships, five-a-side football, women’s football and eSports in the 2023-24 season. The teams were rewarded with the coveted cup recognition, thus celebrating the successes achieved during the sporting year.

These are the prizes awarded

  • The “Filippo Lentini” Award for best footballer was assigned to Luca Savasta of Modica Calcio.
  • The “Bino Abisso” Award for best coach went to Filippo Raciti, coach of Paternò Calcio.
  • The “Angelo Amendolia” Award for the best referee was collected by Giuseppe Matranga.
  • The “Franco Zuccalà” Award for the sports press was awarded to Roberto Gueli, president of the order of journalists of Sicily.
  • The “Gianfranco Provenzano” Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Mario Tamà, historic director of CR Sicilia.
  • The “Special Orazio Siino” Award was given to Giancarlo Abete, president of the LND, for his significant contribution to the world of football.
