They stole at least four vehicles per night on commission, the operation in Barletta-Andria Trani and Foggia

Police operation in the provinces of Barletta-Andria Trani e Foggia: over 30 people arrested and reported for criminal association aimed at stealing, receiving stolen goods and laundering cars. The dismantled criminal system was dedicated to the car theftcarried out simultaneously by several operational “batteries”, capable of stealing up to four vehicles per night. The stolen cars were then transported to compliant car wreckers, mainly in the Cerignola area, where they were dismantled to permanently cover their tracks. Technical activities revealed that many thefts were carried out on commission, with precise indications on the model and technical specifications of the vehicles. In one wiretap, for example, the type of headlight of the vehicle to be stolen was discussed.
On other occasions, using the term “pizzas”, the number of cars was agreed upon. The suspects, also using advanced technologies to evade the interventions of the Police, such as frequency disturbers (jammers), environmental and telephone sweeps, between December 2023 and May 2024 carried out 45 thefts of cars, all of them with large engines, for a total economic value of approximately 1,500,000 euros. Checks are underway on various car dismantlers to ascertain the regularity of the activities of dismantling and resale of used car parts.
