Water shortage in Reggio Calabria, Barreca: ‘It will be a summer of emergencies’

“As already mentioned, the water shortage is evident and the resource must be managed in the best possible way, avoiding as much as possible any useless and harmful waste”.

Reporting this to the microphones of CityNowit was the Councilor Franco Barreca water delegate of Reggio Calabria. Sorical, in recent days, had announced a worrying state of the regional dams, alerting citizens to a possible “dry summer”.

Barrca also explained that “Sorical has already requested a meeting to begin checks on the territory to identify illegal immigrants. I myself will ask the mayor to promote an initiative in this direction”.

The scene filmed yesterday by the mayor in which a man washes his car with public water, while many citizens gather to take a shower is emblematic.

“These will be difficult days,” Barreca explained. “The state of the dam is not the best, the lack of rain and snow will lead to drought problems.”

In response to the report of the citizens of Hermitage Botte, the plumber’s delegate assures “that Sorical is trying to resolve. At the moment only some micro areas are dry. The hope is that water will return to everyone’s homes as soon as possible.”
