Viterbo, the second edition of the summer carnival is underway

VITERBO – Tomorrow 28 June, from 9pm, the second edition of the summer Viterbo Carnival. The appointment with the masked groups is in Piazza San Lorenzo. Eight groups will parade. Registrations are still open. The event was presented last June 25th at Palazzo dei Priori by the artistic director Lucio Matteucci together with other members of the organizing committee, including Daniela Merlini and Antonella Ferretti, in the presence of the mayor Chiara Frontini and the councilor for culture Alfonso Antoniozzi. At the presentation conference of the summer Viterbo Carnival also the municipal councilor delegated for the promotion of the Via Francigena and Jubilee 2025 Alessandra Croci who will be present at tomorrow’s parade with the Aladin group. Within the same group also Daniela and Luca, two young people with mobility difficulties who, thanks to the help of two joelettes, led by specially trained staff, will be able to take part in the parade. The departure will be at 9pm from Piazza San Lorenzo. The charity dinner organized by the Sodalizio Facchini di Santa Rosa in collaboration with Avis Comunale and Viterbo Chapter – Italy in support of the little nuns of the Holy Family will be underway in the same square (the dinner will start at 7.30 pm). The parade will continue on Piazza della Morte, Via San Lorenzo, Piazza del Plebiscito, Via Roma, Corso Italia, Piazza Verdi, Via Marconi and arrive in Piazza Unità d’Italia for the final party.
To allow the parade of masked groups to proceed smoothly, interruptions and diversions of vehicular traffic along the route affected by the Carnival are planned starting from 9.30 pm (ord. n. 373 of 19-6-2024, local police). Local police officers and traffic police bodies will have the right to allow transit to particular categories of users, for proven needs, in relation to road and road conditions, in the road area affected by the measures.
