3 years of work and over 2000 professionals involved in the intervention that transformed the historic Art Nouveau villa, former headquarters of Nazareno Gabrielli and Poltrona Frau in Tolentino, into Interior Marche, a hotel-museum dedicated to design. The project promoted by Franco Moschinia leading figure of the Poltrona Frau Group, inaugurated in recent days, was created by the Holding Moschini SpA. “I deeply love this land and I decided to give back what it has given me in the form of culture and knowledge.he stressed Franco Moschini. Interno Marche is a work of restitution and promotion of the territory, a ‘leaven’ for the new generations“.
The chosen name, “Interno Marche”, recalls the geographical position in the region and the interior design, the heart of the project. Tolentino is a place rich in history and culture known for the Miumor (Museum of Humor in Art), the Basilica of San Nicola, the Cathedral of San Catervo, the Castello della Rancia and the Ponte del Diavolo.
Villa Gabrielli: a place of history and design
Holding Moschini coordinated the recovery and transformation of Villa Gabrielli which, with its 3,600 m² of buildings divided between a main body and an annex, as well as 1,500 m² of garden, hosts a lounge bar, a bistro restaurant, a SPA and 30 rooms, each unique in its kind, which tell the story of Italian and international design of the last 60 years.
The rooms, in addition to representing the 5 stylistic movements that characterized the last century, such as the Viennese Secession, Arts&Crafts, Radical, Pop and Modern Movement, are dedicated to famous designers such as Michele De Lucchi, Marc Newson, Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Giò Ponti, Roberto Lazzeroni and Nendo.
Unique sensory and architectural experiences
But Interno Marche is also a hotel-museowhich houses a collection of over 400 works including furnishings, installations and artworks. Guests can access a “digital vault” via QR codes distributed throughout the structure, which allows them to learn the history of individual pieces.
The spaces of Interno Marche offer a unique sensorial and architectural experience, which allows guests to travel through different eras and atmospheres. From the essential forms of Giò Ponti to the playful world of Front, every environment is a livable work of art. The lobby, breakfast room and lounge bar are located in the historic 3-bay hall of the factory, while the bistro restaurant, the SPA and the gym are located on the ground floor with access from the garden.

The project was created by a team of young engineers and architects from ORA Studio, supported by approximately 2,000 professionals including strategic consultants, restorers, geologists, agronomists, 3D designers, light and interior designers, and photographers. The Fondazione Design Terrae, promoted by Moschini, guided the process, adopting a “sustainable reconstruction” model that made Interno Marche the first building in the world to obtain the double sustainability certification Gbc Historic Building and Leed V4 for Hospitality.
