Catania, the ‘beautiful and good’ inclusive adventure park at Plaia: inauguration on the 29th

In Catania, on the Plaia coast, a new inclusive adventure park is born, the `Beteyà´, `beautiful and good´ in the Manding language, created thanks to Tourability, the project financed by the Department of Family and Social Policies and Work of the Sicilian Region and by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to expand the offer of accessible tourism on the island.

Beteyà Park will be inaugurated on Saturday 29 June in the presence, among others, of Archbishop Mons. Luigi Renna, of the Imam of Catania Abdelhafid Kheit, of Antonio Scavone, former regional councilor for Family, Social Policies and Labour, of the councilor to Social Services, Social Inclusion and Family of the Municipality of Catania Bruno Brucchieri, of the councilor for Public Education of the Municipality of Catania Andrea Guzzardi, of the inspector of the Salesians of Sicily Giovanni D’Andrea, of the president of Don Bosco 2000 (leader of the project ) Agostino Sella and Francesco Cauchi, advisor of the Tourability project. Among the attractions are six different routes immersed in nature with bridges and pulleys created among the trees, with walkways – some of which are accessible by wheelchair – a climbing route, and a route created for people with disabilities.

Beteyà Park joins the beaches already selected – ten to date between Catania and Palermo – by the Tourability project to promote the development of barrier-free tourist destinations. Reception services, support and creative workshops organized by Spazio 47 will be launched within the various accessible locations and training internships coordinated by Cpia Catania 2 are being launched which will involve 30 people with disabilities for targeted placement, 15 in Catania and 15 in Palermo on the beaches of the Plaia and Mondello coast and in other structures that will participate in the inclusion activities.
