Construction sites and future mobility are the topic of this early summer. But perhaps no one ever wonders who is there working on the construction sites. It should therefore not be surprising if, at a time when entrepreneurs generally complain about the lack of manpower, 15 workers of Turkish nationality who until now have been employed in Doha, Qatar, where the company that won the contract for the construction of the section that goes from the municipality of Rubano to Vigonza, the Vicenza-based Icm Spa, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, is also providing for the expansion of an Italian military base.

Specifically, the 15 workers will be employed on the construction sites involved in the section that leads from Padua station to the municipality of Rubano, where the exchanger car park and a depot will be built. In total it is a contract of 115 million euros. It is easy to understand that there is the possibility that other workers will be called from abroad because many more are certainly needed than those who have arrived.

It’s a sign of the times, you might say. There is nothing irregular, the workers have regular contracts and from that point of view there is absolutely nothing to complain about. The fact remains certain that on the one hand it is curious that companies, even large ones, win million-dollar contracts not only in Italy, and only worry about finding the workforce afterwards. But if, as we were saying, it is a sign of the times, it must be noted that this happens in most European countries, and that Turkish workers are among those in high demand. To the 15 already arrived, who are staying in apartments owned by the company in Vicenza and an Italian teacher has already been made available.
