From today the Taviano Post Office, in the Municipality of Sambuca Pistoiese, is back in operation and will be able to offer a series of services to the population, as envisaged by the “Polis – House of Digital Services” project that Poste Italiane is implementing in numerous Municipalities Italians with less than 15 thousand inhabitants. The renovation works on the headquarters in Piazza Sandro Pertini, 6 next to the Town Hall of Sambuca Pistoiese have been completed: “aimed at welcoming – as stated in the note issued by the Poste Italiane Press Office – as soon as they are operational, all the main Public Administration services thanks to the “Polis – House of Digital Services” project, the initiative created by Poste Italiane to promote economic, social and territorial cohesion in the 7 thousand municipalities with less than 15 thousand inhabitants, contributing to their relaunch”.
The project is developed with the aim of promoting the economic, social and territorial cohesion of our country and overcoming the digital divide. The Sambuca Pistoiese post office remained closed for a long time due to a fire that broke out at the beginning of April 2022, which prevented its use. The works lasted for a long time, so much so that the then mayor, Fabio Micheletti protested vigorously. In the new range of services with the Polis project, in practice you can access services such as issuing passports, criminal records or INPS documents and much more, saving many trips to Pistoia and a lot of time; It will take a few months for the service to be fully operational.
Service that will be available to citizens with the usual hours from Monday to Friday from 8.20am to 1.45pm, on Saturdays until 12.45pm. At the time, the president of the Internal Areas Commission of the Tuscany Region, Marco Niccolai, had also expressed positive assessments of the Polis project, defining it as a project that touches on a topic on which “citizens’ attention is high”, that of the presence of post offices, ” in particular in small municipalities, inland areas and small towns that are already suffering from banking desertification”.
