YOSHITAKA AMANO SIGNS THE POSTERS OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED COMMUNITY EVENT IN EUROPE, A TRIPTYY INSPIRED BY GIACOMO PUCCINI.

Presented today in Florence, at the Giunti Odeon bookshop, the 2024 edition of Lucca Comics & Games, a multimedia event now taken on as a contemporary version of that aesthetic ideal that a century ago was represented by opera, a union of literary invention, scenographic amazement and musical magic.
That’s why, precisely thinking of Puccini, on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the “Master” from Lucca, this year the Lucca Comics & Games festival (30 October – 03 November 2024) presents itself as a true operatic composition, entitled “THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT” , The Butterfly Effect” which, in addition to recalling one of Puccini’s most famous works, refers to the corollary of the Chaos Theory.
The study of the way in which small changes can lead to large consequences perfectly embodies the spirit that has always characterized the Lucca event which, to visually represent the three acts of this unique Opera, will this year rely on another great “Sensei” , exponent of the highest “melting pot” of cultures and media: Yoshitaka Amano, Japanese artist of international fame; seventy years old (born in 1952) is known for the his groundbreaking work in the fields of animation, video games and contemporary art. He became famous in the 80s and 90s with his illustrations for the video game series Final Fantasy he is also an appreciated painter and sculptor, with works exhibited all over the world, so much so that between 2024 and 2025 (from 13 November 2024 to 1 March 2025), Lucca Comics & Games will literally exit the city walls of Lucca and land at Fabbrica del Vapore di Milano with the exhibition “AMANO CORPUS ANIMÆ”, dpublished precisely by Yoshitaka Amano. With over 100 original works, this exhibition, the largest and most complete ever dedicated to the Japanese artist in the West, will offer a complete overview of his work, highlighting his extraordinary ability to merge Anime, Video Games and contemporary art into a single, inimitable artistic vision. .
For “The Butterfly Effect” Amano created not just one image, but three, each of which represents an act of this extraordinary work;
- OVERTURE – The first act, the beginning of the dance, with the inaugural press conference in June, represented by the work that Amano has dedicated to Tosca by Puccini. An embrace between two characters, between physicality and imagination, which captures all the exuberant energy of the festival and the thousand colors of its audience;
- GROWING UP – The second act of the festival, which will be held in September, in Milan, will be a crescendo of news and announcements of the most beloved characters from the world of comics, fantasy and gaming of the 2024 edition. The image that will accompany this second phase will be dedicated to Madame Butterfly and should indeed evoke the growing enthusiasm and anticipation that characterise the period preceding the festival;
- A FANTASTIC ENDING – The third act, which will have its climax on October 30th with the start of the festival itself and which will be represented with a third work by maestro Amano, this time linked to the immortal princess Turandotas if to reflect the apotheosis of creativity and passion that is Lucca Comics & Games.
But it doesn’t end here….

- Asmodee with the world premiere of “The Twilight of the Republic”;
- the third set of Star Wars™: Unlimited, the collectible card game, which will be presented in Lucca on October 30th as a world premiere;
- the unique celebrations for the 50th anniversary of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS;
- Larian Studios and “The Forgotten Realms of Baldur’s Gate III” within the walls of Lucca, Game of the Year at the latest The Game Awards;
- Tetris 40th Anniversary Recognition;
- Robert Lawrence Stine, author of the acclaimed series of novels for girls and boys “Little Shivers”, which he will arrive in Italy for the first time to meet his fans;
- Luk For Fantasy with “YOU HAVEN’T TOLD ME THAT YOU LOVE ME – ROMANTASY,THE DECLINATIONS OF LOVE “, opens the doors to Italian and international romance literature; the first two guest authors of the program dedicated to romance will be the American Ava Reid (Il Castoro OFF) and the Italian Felicia Kingsley (Newton Compton);
- PlayNookthe futuristic app for the world of AudioGame, featuring Roan Johnson (director of films and TV series including The Glimmer Crimes And Monterossi) its editorial curator and which allows you to experience adventures completely similar to those of game books but in a totally audio version, with a narrating voice by Stefano Fresi, one of the most loved faces of the TV series The Glimmer Crimes;
- the party for the 20th anniversary of the Music stage in Lucca, which will be attended by many artists who have created and given voice to unforgettable TV theme songs and the exponents of the most important Cartoon Cover Bands, the beating heart of this world, such as Cristina D’Avena, Giorgio Vanni and Max Longhi, Enzo Draghi, I Cavalieri del Re, Vince Tempera, Gli Oliver Onions, Douglas Meakin of Superobots and Rocking Horse, Melody Castellari of Le Mele Verdi, Mauro Goldsand, Stefano Bersola, I Raggi Fotonici, Animeniacs Corp., La Mente di Tetsuya, Carlo Vik of Cialtroni Animati, Ailar e il Supremo of Miwa and its members, Amuro David and Alex Katsura of Bishoonen, Fabio and Jonathan of Banana Split, Paolo Gualdi of La Flotta di Vega, Andrea Lucchi of Poveri di Sodio, Stefano Salerno of the Bim Bum Bam Band, Massimiliano Poggi and the Kimagure…..
