One of the migrants who survived the shipwreck in the Ionian Sea is accused of murder: he strangled a girl who was with him on the boat, which sank last week near the Calabrian coast.
More violence is added to violence. The shipwreck in the Ionian Sea, which occurred last week, is still an open wound. The State Police of Reggio Calabria stopped HA, one of the surviving migrants who was traveling on a sailing boat from Turkey, who landed at the port of Roccella Ionica on 17 June. The man is accused of murder.
The decree was adopted at the end of the investigations conducted by the Flying Squad of Reggio Calabria and the Siderno police station, with the collaboration of the Naval Operational Section of the Guardia di Finanza of Roccella Ionica. The investigations have made it possible to reconstruct the dynamics of a murder which adds to the long list of dramatic events connected to the shipwreck of the sailing boat which sank around 120 miles from the Calabrian coast, with approximately 70 migrants.
In recent days, several bodies have been recovered from the sea. For the moment they are 36 confirmed victims: a woman died after the rescue operations on June 17 and 35 bodies recovered at sea (10 men; 9 women; 15 minors, of which 8 males and 7 females; 1 unidentified body). 11 people survived the shipwreck.

The reconstruction of the murder
It emerged that while the sailing boat was already adrift, the arrested migrant vented his violence on a 16-year-old Iraqi girl, daughter of another survivor, causing her death by suffocation. After the formalities, the arrested person was taken to the Catanzaro prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. On 24 June the arrest was validated, and the precautionary measure of detention in prison was applied.
