CARRARA

Today in Carrara, Paper Fest – Libri in piazza will arrive in Piazza San Francesco, the first book presentation event launched by the publishing house Paper First of Società Editoriale Il Fatto. The initiative aims to be a preview of a larger festival-style event that will also host other publishing houses that Paper First aims to organize in 2025. “I am happy to organize a book event in Carrara, a city with so much potential. In addition to the tourist wonders, nestled as it is between the sea and the Alps, I think the city also has a very lively cultural fabric. For this reason, we would like to insert ourselves into the city’s cultural initiatives with a regular event”, says Cinzia Monteverdi, president of Seif. She adds: “This year the event will be dedicated to the titles of our publishing house, but the intention is to expand it to other publishers and create a sort of all-Apuan book fair”.

“For Carrara – says the mayor Serena Arrighi – it is a great pleasure to host this event, I thank all of Il Fatto Quotidiano and in particular Cinzia Monteverdi for choosing our city. It is undoubtedly a high level event which we hope will become a fixed appointment for the Carrara summer. Carrara has always been a city of culture, but it is also an open city, a city of discussion and dialogue and for this reason I am sure that it is the perfect place for an event like ‘Paper Fest'” .

The program of meetings, starting in the morning, will see some of the publishing house’s leading authors take turns on stage. The presentations will be moderated by journalists and professionals from the world of information. On stage, leading the entire day, there will be the journalist, teacher and television host Luca Sommi. It starts at 10:15 with the inauguration with Serena Arrighi, the councilor Gea Dazzi and Monteverdi herself. Then Alessandro Di Battista presents ‘Uncomfortable truths’ with the journalist Sara Lucaroni. At 6:30 pm Andrea Scanzi presents ‘La Sciagura. A story of these times gone astray’. At 8 pm the journalist Cristina Lorenzi will introduce Antonio Padellaro with the book ‘Solo la verità lo giuro’. At 9 pm Selvaggia Lucarelli presents ‘Il vaso di Pandoro. Ascesa e caduta dei Ferragnez’. Closing at 10 pm Marco Travaglio on ‘Israel and the Palestinians in a few words’. Participation in the meetings is free and open to all.
