TERAMO – Monday 1st July, at 5.00 pm, at the Science Park, the representatives of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (lead company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group) and the municipal administration will meet the citizens for the opening of the participatory phase relating to the redevelopment project of the railway station.

Meeting which will serve to communicate the progress of the procedure, after the assignment of the works and pending the drafting of the executive project by the successful tenderer, and to collect suggestions and proposals on the urban regeneration of the station area, compatibly with the planning phase, in an open discussion with residents and stakeholders.

The project, which will change the face of a strategic area of the city and which sees an economic investment of 23 million of PNRR funds, in addition to a contribution from the Municipality, includes as main interventions the reorganization of the railway level with the retreat of the track bundle and the revision of the General Regulatory Plan of the station, new platforms, new shelters, access on both urban fronts of the station, the restyling of the existing passenger building, with seismic improvement interventions, and a general refunctionalization of the external areas.

The new configuration of the station will allow, in particular, to create a new square to mend the urban fabric, with the reorganization and redistribution of services and routes for pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle accessibility. Interventions that will improve the conditions of livability, safety and modal integration and to encourage travel on the territory with public transport and active mobility, also in terms of environmental sustainability.

Next Monday will represent an important step that will allow us to discuss with the city and incorporate citizens’ observations – underlines the mayor Gianguido D’Alberto – which will then be evaluated together with RFI with the aim of returning to the city, at the end of the works, not only a modern and increasingly functional station but also an area to live in thanks to the new urban square and the related interconnections”.
