GALLARATE – The man who on June 6 in Gallarate robbed a pharmacy and sowed panic in the area in an attempt to steal a getaway van and threatened several people with death has been arrested. He is a 39-year-old convicted felon resident in the Gallaratese area, known for his criminal record and the modus operandi adopted. The police from the operational and mobile radio unit of the local company carried out the arrest. The man, armed with a knife, had robbed a well-known pharmacy in the town,

having received the proceeds of 450 euros and then fled, losing track of him. The soldiers of the mobile radio unit who intervened on site collected the testimonies of the victims, and through the inspection and surveys, they accurately reconstructed the movements of the robber, who had implemented a very specific plan. The 39-year-old, who arrived at the crime scene on a scooter, before committing the robbery entered a housewares shop next to the pharmacy and stole a pair of scissors and a cutter, weapons with which he then committed the robbery. Having completed the theft, he moved towards the pharmacy and, regardless of the presence of a customer, quickly headed towards the cash register, threatening an employee with scissors and taking possession of the proceeds.

The man did not hesitate to also make death threats to the owner of the pharmacy and another doctor who had followed him outside the business immediately after the robbery. He then fled on foot, abandoning the scissors in a nearby bin. Immediately afterwards he attempted another robbery against a courier who was making a delivery to a nearby shop. Then he got into a van that had been left unattended for a moment and drove off at full throttle, breaking through one of the mobile barriers that closed the courtyard where the vehicle was parked. The owner, realizing what had happened, managed to board the vehicle and engage in a fight with the robber, who eventually gave up and continued his escape on foot, but left his clothes and a used knife on board the van. in the robbery committed in the pharmacy. The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri made it possible to put together all the pieces of the puzzle and pin the perpetrator to his responsibilities, who was tracked down and arrested late yesterday evening.
