reopening jeopardizes public safety

Caruso, Cito, D’Ippolito, Dodaro, Luberto, Lucanto, Ruffolo, Spadafora, Spataro: on the delicate affair of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II we could do a lot of irony or even easy speculation

But we are for the politics of content and a sense of responsibility and not for the high-sounding and populist statements that for about 3 years now we have been accustomed to hearing from those who know nothing else except lamenting phantom unfinished works, demonstrating that they do not recognize the concept of administrative continuity, i.e. difficult financial situations for which we are still awaiting the famous, often announced “operation truth”.

Opposition councilors of the city of Cosenza

The time has come to make a truthful assessment of the activity of this current administration which has distinguished itself only by NOT SUCCEED IN HAVING A TRUE VISION OF THE CITY and which, the few times it has independently adopted its own actions, has managed to materialize only destruction of what had been built previously, reversing the evolutionary growth of a green, citizen-friendly city, which had been profitably started by the previous administration.

Everything is still and immobile, from the Planetarium to the Suburban Plan from the Bocs Art to the navigable river and much more.

Pinning medals on the chest on the Urban Agenda and CIS projects, ALREADY PLANNED AND REQUESTED BY THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION, mystifying reality, does not transform one into good administrators.

Perhaps today the Mayor, and with him his majority, have the opportunity to truly realize the fact that administering is not easy and that relying on populism leads nowhere.

Administrative procedures, such as that of the reopening of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, are complex and must be faced with a high sense of responsibility considering that every single choice or action has an impact on the entire community being administered.

In this regard, in light of the declarations in the documents of the same Manager, Eng. Rino, regarding the lack of existence of the safety conditions for the reopening of the stretch of road concerned and of the necessary preparatory actions for the reopening, it is inevitable to note that what is happening is clear proof that the doubts raised some time ago by this opposition were well founded. We must denounce the reckless attitude of the Administration which could not have been unaware of these shortcomings and still wanted to reopen the stretch of road, jeopardizing public safety. Unfortunately, the impression is that he did so by attempting to overcome the technical-administrative impasse of managing the contract, making use of the takeover of different figures (too singular to be coincidental, the resignation of the DL and the appointment of a new Head of Method). Whoever had opposed the executor’s demands (even ordering the termination of the contract) and had set the right conditions for the completion of the safety works and the correctness of the technical-administrative acts was evidently ousted and set aside. Indicative is the fact that the Mayor, in his inaugural speech, thanked the Director Eng. Modest for having “overcome bureaucratic problems” and not mentioning the engineer’s work. Rino who has always led the intervention, which is the responsibility of the Civil Protection sector. Strangely, the expertise in the sector remained with the engineer. Rino but the role of Manager of the intervention was assigned to the engineer. Modesto, recently appointed Manager with a position of trust from the Mayor. It is necessary to shed light on this matter and we will propose to deal with the topic in the Council Commission for Control and Guarantee so that the profiles of responsibility emerge and we can identify those subjects who have jeopardized the safety of citizens in order to project the image of a efficiency revealed, in light of the facts, to be ephemeral and pure propaganda.
